Come down golden book review

This week for reading we have been reading come down golden and we had to make a book review about it.
I enjoyed reading the book it was really interesting.
I found it tricky to write the book review on my chromebook.

Tom Trueheart and the evil wizard

These last 3 weeks we have been writing narratives and these last 2 weeks we have been writing Tom Trueheart and the evil wizard.
I enjoyed writing it in my book and then onto a doc.
I found it tricky to get it finished in the end but I did.
Stem crawled over the stream as snow danced onto the trees. The trees were icy and the ground was snowy as Tom Trueheart crept into Lord Ernus’s lair where he captured Tom Trueheart was a normal man but he  had a sharp  sword and whenever it touched someone they would turn into ice. Lord Ernus was a giant he had muscled legs and arms so he was amazingly strong.

Tom Trueheart crept into  Lord Ernus’s lair while he was dozing away so he stole the key. But it was too heavy and he dropped it.Bang,Lord Ernus woke up and saw Tom Trueheart trying to rescue his 3 brothers and princess brides. He gets them out “run save yourself”shouted Tom Trueheart.”Argh” screamed Lord Ernus as Tom Trueheart stabs Lord Ernus and he steal’s the magical book and sprints out.

Now it's time to destroy the book to reverse every single spell he ever made,Snap the  book broke apart it took a second for the  spell to reverse he  was back to a normal man again and his 3 brothers and 3 princess brides  had 3 kids called Mary ,Ally-a and Mole.

Movie with room 8

In room 1 we made a movie with room 8.
We made a movie on explain it.
I enjoyed making the movie with room 8.

I found it tricky because I had never used it.

People of Parihaka

In room 1 we have been be learning about the people of Parihaka when the soldiers wanted more land.
I found it easy to get the words off word art and cool text.
I found it tricky to find the albatross feather.

Here is some facts about that time.
An albatross landed on the chiefs marae roof and left a feather behind and albatross's are full of mana so that means the chiefs are full of mana. When the soldier's came the women baked some bread for them and the kids stood on the side of the road and sang and danced for them. So the soldier's felt bad so they didn't kill any one but they took them to prison instead.

Tarragon vs Dragon

This week we were learning to structure
In our writing we had to include

• a hook
• describe the setting
• describe the characters
• describe the problem
• describe the resolution
• edit for spelling and punctuation

It was about Tarragon the dragon slayer

In a time when dragons threatened mankind. Only one man to stop them. One stormy night Tarragon the ultimate dragon slayer rode on his horse Black bull through the village. Finally got to the desert as Black bull trotted to the dragon's lair. Tarragon was an ultimate dragon slayer with sharp spikes, sword and shield with how many dragons he has killed 18 soon to be 19. As he slowly and carefully walked up to mother dragon she breathes out fire probably as hot as molten lava. Tarragon stabs the mother dragon in the stomach, dead. Mother dragon has died

As soon as Tarragon is about to leave he saw a bit of fire come out of a bush so he slowly approaches it and he sees a baby dagon, he had just killed the mother of a baby. He tries to leave but Black bull wont move a muscle until he takes the baby. But still Tarragon pushes and tries so hard but Black bull won’t move. So he throws away his shield and loaded up the baby.

But he can hear something else two more dragons so he loads them up too. But now there’s no room for him so he has to walk.

I found it easy to remove the background because I have done it alot so its easy now.
I found it tricky to make the last slide and make it look real.

This week we have been learning about Rosary Beads.
I found it easy to find the Rosary Bead picture off google.
I found it tricky to find what prayer is for every bead.

Rep game

This week for writing we were doing recounts.
In our success criteria we needed

• use some long and some short sentences.
• use adjectives and adverbs.
• use juicy verbs to start a sentence.
• use a simile or a metaphor.
• keep to one main idea in a paragraph.
• edit for spelling and punctuation

I found it easy know what I was writing about.
I found it tricky to fill my success criteria.


6:30am as mum yelled at me to get up. My mum was plating up the scrambled eggs as I nervously put on my kit. After I had breakfast, which was amazingly good, my dad told me to go run around the hotel for a warm up before the game. Freezing, I walked outside. It was so cold it was like jumping head first in snow.

First game against Hawkes bay I played a lovely ball to Flynn who placed it in the bottom corner 1-0. Sadly they scored last minute. My dad and I were extremely devastated.

Last of all it was Whanganui and I won the toss and kicked off. They scored an offside goal but the ref allowed it. Then they scored a handball goal and the ref allowed it. 1:30 drive to Napier.

What media I use.

Today we were learning  about different types of media.
I found it easy to find the pictures.
I found it tricky to remove all the different photos.

I found it easy to deiced what I was going to do for it.

Seeking Help

Today I was learning how to take screen shots on my chrome book and seek help.
I really enjoyed making the drawing and the screen shot.
I found it challenging to learn how to take it at the start.

This week for Maori language week we have been learning about different Maori gods. My reading group were learning about Hatupatu and the Bird woman.

Speeches

This week we presented our speeches.
I felt nervous. I was shaking a lot.
We included our pepeha.
We had to use a clear voice, stand still, speak loudly, go at our own pace, look up at the crowd, use expression and be confident.
Our speeches had to include a rhetorical question and be persuasive.
My speech was on Climate Change.

Climate Change

Today I was learning about Climate change.
I enjoyed learning new things.
I found it challenging to write on the doc.
Climate change
What is climate change and what does it do to our planet? Climate change is different to global warming. Climate change is change to our climate including wind, rain, snow and hail. Global warming is the temperature change through the earth.

People have been burning down the trees in the Amazon rainforest for space for their farmland  but the fires are out of control. There is so much smoke it covers half of Brazil and you can see it from space. The fire is so harmful to the environment because people call the Amazon forest the earth's lungs because it creates 20% of the oxygen, so if people burn it we could lose 20% of oxygen.The Amazon Rainforest is home to millions of  species of animals, plants and tribespeople. People are destroying people's huts and animals habitats.S ome animals are the green anaconda, poison dart frog, orangutans, White lipped peccary, brown throated sloth, bald uakari and the Ukaris.

Another reason climate change is bad is that the glaciers are melting. This is bad because if the glaciers melt the sea level rises and it will flood places like Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands. Before you know it, New Zealand will be flooded. The glaciers are melting because it’s getting warmer, which means the sea temperature is getting warmer and that kills fish, sharks, octopuses and more.

Fossil fuels. A fossil fuel is something that can’t be reused like oil, petrol, gas and coal. Cars, buses, trains, trucks and airplanes all use fossil fuels. Fossil fuels release a fume called carbon dioxide and if you breathe in carbon dioxide it can kill you. It also releases a fume that heats the world and that's called global warming.

So in conclusion I believe that we should stop climate change and global warming.

Should Caged Chickens Be Banned

Today we were learning about free range chickens and caged chickens.
I found it easy to write it.
I found it tricky to find the facts.

How would you feel if you were trapped in a cage all your life?

First of all they can’t act like chickens. They can’t jump up on stuff and in a cage they’ll get angry and peck at each other chicken and the farmers have to trim their beaks.They can't have dust baths so hey get parasites but if there free range they can have dust baths. Also they can’t even fly around because they are squished in a cage.


The second reason is that they can’t even stretch their wings. The reason is because there cage is as big as an A4 piece of paper. Also there squished up against other chicken and the side of the cage with about 1 centimeter of space. Last of all is they won’t get diseases if there free range. If there in a cage they will get diseases like osteoporosis which makes your bones really weak so if you touch them they could die. Another disease is fatty liver disease which you can only get in the cage not free range


So in conclusion I believe that chickens should be free range because of the diseases and that they can’t be chickens in a cage.

Interdependence

Today I was learning about interdependence.
I enjoyed making the pictures on my google drawing.
I found it tricky to find information about the plover and crocodile.
Next time I would change the pictures because they don't look real.

Tom Fedro

Tom Fedro was born in 1969 and lives in Chicago. He's a famous artist and the type of art he does has zing and boundless humor. Since childhood drawing and painting were always his hobbies. He draws portraits of women in a pop art collage style featuring bold colours and lines. Here's some pictures he drew and here’s a picture I drew. 

We were learning to use painting techniques.

I enjoyed using bright colours.

Mary MacKillop

In room 1  we went to church to celebrate her feast day.

Who is Mary MacKillop?
Mary MacKillop was an Australia nun who was born in Melbourne but best known for her activities in South Australia.

What did Mary MacKillop do?
Her first job was as a clerk when she was 14 and then worked as a governess looking after her cousins and teaching them their lessons.

How did she become a saint?
On June 1995 she was beatified by John Paul ll. An Australian woman who had terminal cancer called upon Mary MacKillop in a prayer and was cured. Pope Benedict recognised Mary MacKillop as a Saint.Mary MacKillop's feast day is 8 August.

We are learning about bees.
I really enjoyed finding facts that I didn't know.
I found it tricky to find the right picture of a bee.

Winter

We are learning to describe. I found it challenging to find adjectives to describe the noun. I found it easy do the verbs. Here is my story. Hope you enjoy.

Outside, frosty brittle twigs waved through the mist. Snowy icy rooftops were biting cold. Arctic cold cars slipped on the road. It was as cold as the top of Mount Everest. My legs were shivering cold.

 

Holiday sleepover

These holidays I went to my friends house for a sleepover we played spotlight, we played hide and seek tag and we played on the ps4. The games we played on the ps4 was fifa 19 and this fun racing game. We played spotlight at like 10:00-10:30. We went to bed at like 12:00 o clock because we stayed up all night talking.

Breakfast Buddies

On Wednesday Johnny and I went on More fm as Breakfast Buddies. We went to the radio studio and had to say things about the school and the weather forecast for the weekend.  I enjoyed giving shout outs to my friends like Kharn and Chase. I found it challenging to give the weather forecast.

Heavy Metal

We have been learning what are the different types of metal and what metal can get covered by copper. I enjoyed seeing the copper grow over the nalis. next time I will use more technical language.


Have you ever wondered how copper is transferred onto a nail?

We put vinegar and salt into a cup to make a solution. We put copper into the solution and left it for 1 hour. We took it out and the copper turned green. Put nails in the vinegar and left it there.

 The next day and there  Was a bit of copper up the nail. But we have to wait for the copper to fully grow up the nail.

My name is Billy. I go to St Mary's School in Gisborne. I have my dad, my mum and my brother who goes to Campion College here in Gisborne. My brother was born in New Zealand, Dad was born in England and my mum was born in New Zealand.

I am good at Reading. I like reading long chapter books. I like sports. My favourite sport is football. My challenges in football is to come second or third in the league.

I am excited to go on a school trip. I think we're going to Rotorua. We might go down the luge and play paintball. It is going to be really neat because I've never done paintball ever.
